ĢƵ Tech Basketball Players Serve Families During Kappa Kommunity Day

September 14, 2026

Three members of the ĢƵ Technical Community College men’s basketball team recently volunteered their time to serve families in Center City Wilmington.

Student-athletes Tyree Cain, Jeremiah Riley, and Ethan Cheaye engaged with families, children, volunteers, and members of the Wilmington (DE) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi through Kappa Kommunity Day, a community service event held this year on Aug. 22.

“I was especially proud of how these young men represented ĢƵ Tech,” said Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Murphy Marbury. “They did not simply show up to fulfill volunteer hours — they engaged. They worked, interacted with the Kappa men, enjoyed the experience, and demonstrated the kind of character we hope to develop through our basketball program.”

Marbury emphasized that the players’ contributions reflect values beyond just wins and losses. This includes getting involved with the community, developing character and leadership skills, strengthening community partnerships, and positively representing ĢƵ Tech.

Kappa Kommunity Day is hosted by the Wilmington Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the premier alumni chapter and post-graduate organization in the New Castle County area, as well as in the Northern Province. The Chapter serves as a pillar in the community through its numerous Guide Right and community service initiatives. Chapter members are also actively engaged in ĢƵ that encourage young men to be strong, educated, and contributing members of their communities.
