Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech’s Annual Hometown Heroes 5k Raises Funds for Student Scholarships
More than 300 runners and walkers joined Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College employees, students, and volunteers on Sept. 20 for the annual Hometown Heroes 5k Run/1 Mile Walk hosted by the College’s Stanton and Wilmington campuses. This year’s race raised over $11,000 for student scholarships.

Mumford and Kruger Join Softball Coaching Staff
When Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech’s softball team takes the field this spring to defend its region and district championships, there will be two new faces helping lead the team in new assistant coaches Sami Mumford and Kylie Kruger.

Meet the September Athlete Spotlight Students
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech student-athletes must excel on and off the field as representatives of the College. Throughout the season on the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech Athletics Instagram account, one student-athlete is regularly honored for their overall athletic performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment to education.

The 2023 Run, White & Blue 5k, held Sept. 7 at the Owens Campus in Georgetown, raised over $22,000 for scholarships for veterans and first responders through sponsorship and participation.

More than 400 runners and walkers participated in the 10th annual Run, White & Blue 5k run and 1-Mile walk on Thursday, Sept. 7 at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College’s Owens Campus in Georgetown. This year’s event raised over $22,000, which will go toward scholarships for veterans and first responders.

Terry Campus Central Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Economic Summit Addresses Artificial Intelligence
The 15th annual Central Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Economic Summit, held Sept. 19, 2023, on the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech Terry Campus in Dover, focused on the topic of artificial intelligence. The summit featured a keynote address by James Collins, public sector leader for the Americas at Microsoft, and a moderated chat with Collins and three other business and industry professionals utilizing AI in day-to-day operations.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech Grads Join Women’s Volleyball Coaching Staff
Two new faces are on the sideline for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech’s women’s volleyball program this season, as Erin Carney and Morgan Donahue have joined the coaching staff as assistant coaches.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech Breaks Ground on Stanton Campus Child Development Center
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College has broken ground on a new child development center at its Stanton Campus that will offer child care to students, employees, and community members. Senator Tom Carper and Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester joined College leaders in a September ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate the $7 million project, which was funded through the American Rescue Plan.

Energy Department Holds STEM Educator Energy Institute
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech energy department faculty worked with the Center for Renewable Energy Advanced Technological Education (CREATE) and the National Science Foundation to host a STEM Educator Energy Institute this summer on the College’s Terry Campus in Dover.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech Athletics Sets a New Record for Student-Athletes Receiving NJCAA Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ All-American Honors
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College had 24 student-athletes recently receive National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ honors for their academic achievements in the 2022-2023 season. This is a record number of student-athletes receiving this honor, breaking the previous record of 20 which was set just a year ago.

Nursing Faculty Members Bradley and Whitlock Named 2023 Top Nurses
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech nursing faculty members Jenna Bradley, an instructor, and Adam Whitlock, an instructional coordinator, were named Top Nurses at the 2023 Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Today Excellence in Nursing awards ceremony held May 17. Eight additional individuals affiliated with the College’s nursing program were nominated for recognition.

Longtime College Supporter Receives Paul K. Weatherly Award
Longtime Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech supporter James T. Cavanaugh III received the College’s Paul K. Weatherly Award Recognizing Excellence at the Board of Trustees’ June meeting. The Weatherly Award was created in 1995 to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College and who best exemplify the ideals of the community college spirit.

Terry Campus Nursing Department and Bayhealth Hold Nurse Educator Conference
The Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech Terry Campus Nursing Department partnered with Bayhealth to hold a Nurse Educator Conference June 8, 2023 in Dover. More than 200 nursing professionals from across Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ and the tri-state area gathered in the on-campus Del-One Conference Center for updates on educational trends relevant to the nursing profession.

Collins Finishes Career as One of Softball Program’s Greatest Pitchers
Carly Collins’ Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech softball career started with her appearing in just 14 games and pitching only six innings. It ended with her becoming the second-winningest pitcher in the program’s last 10 seasons and being named pitcher of the year for the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Region 19.

For the third year in a row, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College's softball team competed in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Softball World Series. Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech qualified after once again winning the NJCAA Region 19 and Northeast District championships.
