The annual Central Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Economic Summit, presented in partnership between the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech Terry Campus in Dover and the Central Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Business and Entrepreneurship Consortium, was held September 13, 2022.

Over 300 Participants Support Annual Run, White & Blue 5k
The weather was absolutely perfect for 309 participants to compete in the ninth annual Run, White & Blue 5k/1-mile Walk, held at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College's Owens Campus in Georgetown on Sept. 8.

Women's Volleyball Team Entering 2022 Full of Promise and Potential

ChristianaCare Provides Support to Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech Campus Food Pantries
ChristianaCare has provided Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech with a $100,000 donation to sustain the College's food pantries, which are located on each campus statewide. The food pantries are operated by Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech staff and volunteers and provide students with food for healthy meals.

This year's women's volleyball team will be led by a new coaching staff as Leigh DeSantis takes over as head coach and Sydney Armbrister joins the program as assistant coach. DeSantis served as assistant coach since 2020.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College is partnering with four community colleges across the country to form the CREATE National Energy Center thanks to a $7.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College has introduced a new Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSE) program designed to create a pipeline for aspiring teachers who want to stay in Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ and fill vacancies caused by the current teacher shortage.

Schlabach Headed to Maryville College to Play Baseball
After two successful years as a member of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College's baseball team, pitcher Brandon Schlabach is transferring to Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. to join the Maryville Scots baseball team and major in business management.

Trio of Men's Lacrosse Graduates Head to Wilmington University
After being key pieces to the best season in Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College men's lacrosse history, teammates Conor Christie, Matt Kracyla, and Louis Savino are transferring to Wilmington University to continue their education and continue playing lacrosse.

Record Number of Student-Athletes Receives NJCAA All-Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Honors
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College had a record-setting 20 student-athletes receive National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ honors for their academic achievements in the 2021-2022 season.

On Wednesday, June 29, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech hosted a ribbon cutting for its new Veterans Resource Center at its Orlando J. George, Jr. Campus in Wilmington. The center was funded by a grant from the Navient Community Fund.

Philip Bills Infrastructure Fund Established to Recognize Longtime Donor
More than 20 years ago, Philip Bills established the Bills Family Scholarship Endowment at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech to offer financial assistance to students who were orphaned or who came from a single-parent home.

Colleen Millman, a garden room lead teacher (preschool) at the Child Development Center (CDC) at the Owens Campus in Georgetown, was recently honored as Early Childhood Center Educator of the Year by the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood and Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ STARS for Early Success.

After playing at the club level in 2019 due to low numbers and not playing at all in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Technical Community College's men's lacrosse team returned to prominence on April 29 when it defeated Union County Community College 20-5 to win the 2022 NJCAA Region 1

Naiesha "Nai" Brown, a Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech biotechnology graduate of the Class of 2022, is now working at Croda Atlas Point, a sustainable chemical manufacturer that creates high-performance ingredients and technologies for some of the biggest, most successful brands in the world.

Brandon Gibbs, a 2015 graduate of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Tech's elementary education program, was recently named Teacher of the Year for Georgetown Elementary School. Gibbs is a 5th grade elementary education teacher.
